Where to Stay in Nagoya (Aichi): Three Marriott Bonvoy Hotels I Stayed At

Nagoya (Aichi) has two main bases for visitors: the area around Nagoya Station, where the shinkansen stops, and the downtown Sakae (Aichi) district a few subway stops east. This guide covers three Marriott Bonvoy hotels I have stayed at myself, one near each part of the city: TIAD, Autograph Collection by Hisaya Odori Park, the Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel above Nagoya Station, and Courtyard by Marriott Nagoya (Aichi) near Fushimi Station. Locations, facilities and restaurant names come from the hotels' official pages; the "My visit" notes are my own experience.

- Nagoya Station area for trains, Sakae (Aichi) for shopping and nightlife
- TIAD: a boutique hotel by Hisaya Odori Park, with an indoor pool
- Nagoya Marriott Associa: right above Nagoya Station, with a sky lounge on the 52nd floor
- Courtyard: a more casual stay near Fushimi Station
Which area to stay in
- Nagoya Station: the stop for the shinkansen and JR lines, and also for the Kintetsu and Meitetsu lines. Good if you arrive and leave by train, or plan day trips.
- Sakae (Aichi): the downtown area with department stores, Hisaya Odori Park and many restaurants and bars. The Osu shopping streets are just to the south.
- Fushimi: between the two, one stop from Sakae (Aichi) on the Higashiyama Line. Quieter, with many office buildings and small bars.
The subway links all three. For tickets and IC cards, see getting around Nagoya (Aichi).
TIAD, Autograph Collection
TIAD is a boutique hotel in Marriott's Autograph Collection brand, in Sakae (Aichi) and facing Hisaya Odori Park. The official access page gives the address in the Sakae (Aichi) district of Naka-ku, a 1-minute walk from Exit 1 of Yabacho Station on the Meijo subway line, and about 15 minutes by subway from Nagoya Station.
- Pool: an indoor infinity pool on the 6th floor, open 7:00 to 22:00, for guests aged 16 and over, with a thermal bath area next to it (official wellness page).
- Dining: SHUHARI, a 9-seat counter for creative Japanese cuisine on the 5th floor; Table For Tomorrow, the all-day restaurant on the 5th floor; and The Lounge on the 3rd floor for afternoon tea (official dining page).
- Rooms with balconies: the park-view rooms with a balcony and the suites look over Hisaya Odori Park (official rooms page).
Good to know: if you want a quiet night, ask for a room on the side without balconies when you book or check in. The pool is for ages 16 and over, so families with younger children should plan around that.
Who it suits: couples and travelers who want a stylish base in Sakae (Aichi), within walking distance of Osu (Aichi) and the park.
My visit
I have stayed at TIAD at least four times. It's within walking distance of both Sakae (Aichi) and Osu (Aichi), and there is a pool to relax in. As a Platinum Elite member, breakfast was free for me, and at check-in I could choose either a drink ticket or 1,000 points. When I came with my child, the hotel gave us a ticket for ice cream. SHUHARI, the Japanese restaurant, has a calm atmosphere where you can eat at your own pace.
One tip: on several stays I could hear voices from the park-view balconies late at night. When I asked, the hotel told me the side without balconies is quieter, so that is the side I would ask for if you want a quiet night.
Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel
The Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel is inside JR Central Towers, directly above JR Nagoya Station. The official floor guide puts the front desk on the 15th floor and the guest rooms on the 20th to 49th floors, and the access page explains the shuttle elevators up from the 1st and 2nd floors of the towers.
- Sky Lounge Zenith: a bar and lounge on the 52nd floor, about 210 m above the ground, with live piano music in the evenings (official page).
- Chinese Restaurant Linka: Cantonese-based Chinese cuisine on the 18th floor (official page). The 18th floor also has Japanese and teppanyaki restaurants.
- Pergola: the all-day restaurant on the 15th floor, with a breakfast buffet (official page).
- Club Lounge: on the 15th floor, renamed from Concierge Lounge in September 2026. The official lounge page lists who can use it and the food times through the day.
Good to know: you can't get closer to the shinkansen than this, which helps with early trains and heavy bags. For the lounge, the hotel's page names suite guests, club-room guests and Ambassador members, so if you are counting on lounge access as an elite member, confirm with the hotel when you book.
Who it suits: travelers moving on by train, and anyone who wants a night view with dinner or a drink.
My visit
Zenith is a long-established bar, and having a drink there with live music (jazz when I was there) and the night view was wonderful. The hotel has Japanese, Western and Chinese restaurants; my favorite is the Chinese restaurant Linka. It's properly done, the way a hotel restaurant should be, but it's classic Chinese food without anything too unusual. For anyone curious how this differs from everyday Japanese-style Chinese food, see machi-chuka.
Breakfast at Pergola used to be free for elite members, but on my recent stays it was paid. As a Platinum Elite member I could use the lounge for free; the food there was mostly snacks. So, in my experience, the difference is simple: breakfast was free at TIAD and paid here.
Courtyard by Marriott Nagoya (Aichi)
For a more casual stay, there is the Courtyard. The city's official tourism site lists it in the Sakae (Aichi) district of Naka-ku, an 8-minute walk from Exit 6 of Fushimi Station, or about 15 minutes on foot from Nagoya Station.
Good to know: Courtyard is one of Marriott's more casual brands, and Marriott's member terms treat it differently from full-service brands for some elite benefits (see the next section).
Who it suits: travelers who want a simpler, lower-priced room between Nagoya Station and Sakae (Aichi), and who like going out for food and drinks nearby.
My visit
If you want to stay a little more casually, this is the one, and it's a step cheaper. There are many places nearby I'd like to introduce. One is BAR BARNS, a proper bar: in winter, their Irish coffee made with a siphon is superb, they have rare bourbons and Scotch whiskies, and I also recommend their homemade nama chocolate.
From the bar's official Instagram (checked October 5, 2026): basement floor, 2-3-32 Sakae, Naka-ku, Nagoya (Aichi). Open 18:00 to 24:00; phone reservations are recommended on weekends. Hours can change, so check before you go.
Marriott Bonvoy member benefits
All three hotels are in the Marriott Bonvoy program. On its Platinum Elite page (checked October 5, 2026), Marriott lists:
- Welcome gift: on arrival, a choice of points, a breakfast offering or an amenity, which varies by brand.
- Lounge: at brands that have lounges, full access and complimentary breakfast.
- Late checkout: 4 p.m., subject to availability at resort and convention hotels.
The details depend on the brand and the hotel, and the program terms list brands that don't offer some benefits. What I describe in "My visit" is what I got at each hotel; it can differ for you, so check with the hotel.
Before you book
- Pick the area: Nagoya Station for trains, Sakae (Aichi) for shopping and nightlife.
- Check what your membership level gets at that hotel: breakfast, lounge and welcome gift differ.
- Ask for a quiet room when you book if you need one.
- Remember the city's no-smoking districts: see street smoking in Nagoya (Aichi).
Heading on to Osaka (Osaka)? The Hinotori limited express is a relaxed option, and our Osaka (Osaka) hotel guide covers where I stayed there. Looking for gifts to take home? See souvenirs from Japan. More on our Nagoya (Aichi) page.
