Japan Winter Illuminations 2026–2027: Tokyo (Tokyo) and Nabana no Sato Tickets, Dates and Photo Tips

Looking for winter lights during your trip? Start with your travel date and how much of the evening you want to spend outdoors. For a short city outing, the free displays at the Midtown Garden or the Dome City complex in Tokyo (Tokyo) are useful options. For a longer visit, choose Yomiuriland or Nabana no Sato in Kuwana (Mie), reached from Nagoya (Aichi).

- Check the individual display's end date: a winter light path can continue after its Christmas show ends.
- At Nabana no Sato, December 23–25 requires a special date-specific ticket; ordinary tickets do not work.
- Choose admission-only or rides-included tickets at Yomiuriland, and check the day's calendar.
- Plan your return bus or train before taking photos. Use a handheld camera when paths are busy.
Choose a city stroll or a ticketed evening
The following venues have official announcements for this season, checked in October 2026. Display hours can change with weather, events or crowd management. Opening hours, light-up times and the final transport departure are separate things: a late switch-off does not mean that you can stay until then and still catch your bus.
Midtown Garden in Roppongi (Tokyo): free lights, different end dates
In Tokyo (Tokyo), the operator's October 9, 2026 announcement gives 2026-11-26 to 2026-12-25, 17:00–23:00 for MIDWINTER LIGHTS and THE DREAMING TREE. Both are free. The separate Path of Light continues to 2027-2-23, also free at 17:00–23:00, subject to changes.
The bubble effect is scheduled only through 2026-12-20. If you visit later, choose the display still running on your date. The MIDWINTER LOUNGE is a separate paid food-and-drink area; it is not required for viewing the free lights.
Dome City: a free winter walk in Tokyo (Tokyo)
The operator's October 8, 2026 announcement confirms TOKYO SNOW DOME CITY, 2026-11-19 to 2027-2-28, 17:00–24:00. Viewing the illumination is free; times may change with sunset, displays or other events. Save the official venue map and decide which light displays you want to see. Nearby attractions have their own admission arrangements.
Yomiuriland: admission-only or an After Pass?
In Inagi (Tokyo), Jewellumination runs 2026-10-29 to 2027-4-4, excluding park closing days. The August 25, 2026 announcement lists 16:00–20:30, with seasonal changes. Weekdays from 2027-3-1 to 2027-3-12 have daytime park operation only. Check the official calendar rather than assuming lights are available every day of the advertised season.
For adults aged 18–64, the official ticket page lists admission-only: 1,800 yen; official online: 1,600 yen. This covers park entry, not rides. The After Pass on illumination days allows entry from 15:00 with eligible rides: 3,100 yen; official online: 2,800 yen. Some rides, including Sky-Go-LAND, are excluded. Choose your visit date and ticket on the official page; check other age categories there too.
Nabana no Sato: a garden evening from Nagoya (Aichi)
Nabana no Sato in Kuwana (Mie) confirms 2026-10-17 to 2027-5-31, with maintenance closures on 2027-1-6 and 2027-1-7. Light-up follows sunset. The official date-by-date chart puts November through February light-up at approximately 17:00–18:00, depending on the day; it is a guide, not a fixed daily start time. Check that chart and the day's closing time before traveling.
Ordinary admission prices vary by date. For 2026-11-21 to 2026-12-22 and 2026-12-26 to 2027-2-28 (excluding closures), the official page lists 3,000 yen at convenience stores or 3,200 yen at the venue. These ordinary tickets include a 1,000-yen voucher for use inside and Begonia Garden entry. Elementary-school-age visitors and older pay admission. Other dates have different prices.
The venue recommends buying and printing ordinary tickets at FamilyMart or 7-Eleven before arrival; same-day purchase and use are possible. This avoids the ticket-counter purchase step. It does not guarantee an empty entrance or clear paths.
Buy a limited, date-specific Christmas ticket in advance. Ordinary tickets and the usual railway-and-bus admission set cannot be used. The special-ticket price was still marked under consideration on the official page when checked. The park opens at 15:00 on these days: closing is 22:00 on December 23 and 23:00 on December 24–25. Opening at 15:00 does not mean the lights switch on then. Check the current special-ticket sales notice before paying.
Getting there independently: the official illumination-season route uses Kintetsu Nagoya Station, Kintetsu-Nagashima Station and a direct bus to the garden. During this season, the venue says there is no garden-bound bus from Kuwana Station. Do not reuse a summer route. Check your return bus and train before leaving, including whether your train stops at Kintetsu-Nagashima Station. For holiday travel, see our New Year opening-hours and train guide.
Photos, crowds and staying warm
Nabana no Sato's published rule: personal photos do not need special permission. Refrain from using a tripod when crowded; it may be used when quiet. Avoid blocking passages or occupying a photo spot for a long time. Commercial photography and entering restricted areas are not allowed.
Yomiuriland's terms: photos and videos are for private use within a range that does not disturb other visitors; unauthorized commercial filming is prohibited. We have not confirmed a general illumination tripod rule there, or a specific tripod rule for the Midtown Garden or Dome City displays. Ask staff before setting one up. A handheld phone is a practical option when the path is busy.
For a more comfortable evening, keep your plan flexible around busy photo spots. Take your photo from a permitted place, then move aside so other people can pass. As practical preparation, bring warm layers, a wind-resistant outer layer and gloves that let you use your phone. Choose comfortable walking shoes and leave room for an indoor warm-up break. Check the forecast before going and keep your battery charged for tickets and the return route.
